FAQ & Support
Everything Fitdash shows comes from Apple Health. Here is how to confirm your apps and devices are feeding it, and how Apple decides which numbers count.
How do I confirm an app or device is writing to Apple Health?
Open the Health app on your iPhone, tap your profile picture in the top right, then tap Apps (under Privacy). Every app that has asked for Health access is listed there. Tap one to see exactly what it is allowed to write. If an app is missing from this list, it has never requested Health access; check that app's own settings for an "Apple Health" or "Health sync" toggle.
For devices like Apple Watch or a smart ring, tap Devices in the same Privacy section, or check the device's companion app (for example the Oura or Garmin Connect app) and make sure its Health sync setting is on.
How do I check where a specific number came from?
In the Health app, open any metric (for example Steps), scroll to the bottom, and tap Data Sources & Access. You will see every app and device that contributes data to that metric, and you can tap Show All Data to inspect individual entries with their source.
Does having multiple devices double count my data?
No. When more than one source records the same data type at the same time, Apple Health uses its source priority order to decide which entries count, so overlapping data is not added twice. If you carry your iPhone and wear an Apple Watch, Health picks one source for each overlapping stretch of time rather than summing both.
How do I change which source Apple Health prefers?
In the Health app, open the metric, tap Data Sources & Access, tap Edit, then drag sources into your preferred order. Sources higher in the list win when data overlaps. This is Apple's system-wide setting and it affects every app that reads from Health, including Fitdash.
Do I need the source picker in Fitdash Settings?
Only if more than one device or app records the same metric, for example a Watch and a ring both tracking sleep, or two nutrition apps both logging protein. Most people can leave it alone: by default Fitdash shows Apple Health's merged numbers, computed with the priority order above.
The picker, in Fitdash Settings → Data Sources, pins a metric to one specific source. Pin Sleep to your ring even though your Watch records sleep too, and every other metric keeps Health's default merge. It changes what Fitdash displays, never what is stored in Apple Health.
A metric shows 0 in Fitdash. What do I check?
In order of likelihood:
1. Fitdash read access: Health app → profile picture → Apps → Fitdash. Turn on the metrics you want Fitdash to see.
2. The source app is not writing: confirm the app or device appears under that metric's Data Sources & Access, as above.
3. A Fitdash source pin: if you pinned the metric to one source in Fitdash Settings and that device did not record today, switch it back to All sources.
My purchase didn't unlock Pro
Open Fitdash Settings and tap Restore Purchase, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us.
Widgets aren't updating
Widgets refresh on a schedule set by iOS. Opening the app refreshes them immediately. If a widget shows a lock, that metric isn't in your Basic selection; choose it as one of your two Basic metrics or unlock Pro.
What does the Oura connection do?
It is a Pro feature that fixes Total Calories on days you don't wear an Apple Watch. Connect it in Fitdash Settings. Fitdash reads one thing from Oura: your daily activity summary. If today's number hasn't posted yet, Fitdash uses Apple Health alone until it does.
